Butterfly Days

One year anniversary!

Today is July 18, 2012.  It is exactly one year ago to the day that I began my practice of taking a morning walk.  I am happy to say that I have not missed a single day in this practice.  I have gone out every day, rain or shine and walked.  I have had some walks that were somewhat shorter, but I usually walk from three quarters to a full mile each day.

Contrary to what I have been told, it does nothing for losing weight.  Yet, I stick to it, and I wonder if I will make a similar posting on July 18, 2013???

Aphelion

Today is Aphelion, the day the Earth is farthest from the sun.  I know that you can not wait until Perihelion!

Today I have begun preparations for my 67th orbit of the sun. Having completed 66, I can tell you its been quite a ride. I have traveled over 39 billion miles on Spaceship Earth so far. It is so wonderful to be alive! This is starting off to be a wonderful year.

Finishing Touches

The counter top is going in right now.  Tomorrow the plumbing and the electric.  WOW, looks like we will  have kitchen tomorrow!!!

Some things just must stop....

On Saturday, I took a nasty spill in my kitchen.  I made a hard landing on my right arm (still sore), skinned my right knee -- I have not had a scab on my knee since I was a child.  My left thumb is sore and black and blue and my left ham-string is very achy.

Time for healing.  I am making progress, but I have learned at my age a fall like that is not in my best interest!

A busy week

Aunt Sis turned 92 years old on Wednesday, May 30.  She is still sharp as a tack, but the wine just seems to go right to her head!

Last  night Liddy graduated from Braden River High School.  Traffic and parking were awful, but we made it and she graduated!

We had a night to remember afterwards.  We did not get out until 9:30 or so and then rode right into NY style traffic getting out of the parking lot then crossing the bridge over the Manatee River with 1 lane shut off.  We decided to go to the Olive Garden but when we got there it was closed.  My next bright idea was Applebee's but there was a wait and it was karaoke night which made it extremely noisy.  Next we tried Chick-fil-A, but they too were closed.  Mickey D's was open, so we feasted on awful late night fare then went home and fell into bed.  A real night to remember!

It is official.............

I was finally able to get something for the front license plate spot on my car.  Florida only issues one plate for the back of the car.  The front of my car looked like it was missing something.

Tonight at the Van Wezel.  This is our 4th show in a week.  I am loving it!  This performance was excellent.  It stands well against the version I saw on Broadway with Herschel Bernardi so many years ago -- at least 40 years!

We moved out in mid December 2011 and just closed the sale of the property this morning.  All in all considering the market we did not have to wait so long.  The buyer proved to be a pain, but we got it done and now: WE ONLY HAVE ONE HOUSE!  What a relief!!!

Last night at the Van Wezel.  I saw this on Broadway about 25 years ago; this production is as good as the New York show!

Superbowl XLVI

For the fourth time in my lifetime, the  Giants have made it to the Super Bowl.  I have seen all 46 Super Bowl games.  I did miss the 2nd half of one game in the late 1970s, however.

Anthony's 32nd Birthday

Happy Birthday Son!  January 18, 1980 was a chilly, damp and gray day in New Jersey.  I had been up late the night before rushing to St. Barnabas' Hospital in Livingston for your birth.  Alas you did not wait for  me!  By the time I arrived you had already arrived.

I called my mother collect because in those days, no one had a cell phone and no one carried that much change to feed to the pay phones either.  She was happy to hear about Anthony, but not too happy to accept a collect call.  She was further put out when she asked who you looked like.  The only resemblance I could see was to the old actor, James Cagney. I guess I should have said you looked like her!

Today is also the 6 month anniversary of my morning walks.  I am proud to say that I have not missed a day.  I may have  had a few short walks, but I have not missed a day!
